New Painting!

Here is a painting just completed    This was painted from a photo taken at the Phoenix zoo.
I projected it on the canvas and painted a faux frame around the
giraffe to make it look as though he is looking
out of the picture.  Thanks for stopping by.

A New Post!!!!

Wow, where did all the time go.  Got involved with other things and am just now getting back to blogging.
You know what they say, life happens when you have made other plans.  Anyway, here is a
mini album I made from paper from Graphics 45 " Ladies Diary".   I ordered a kit from Merry Seaver at
Mini Album Scraps  I'm still using all the paper and embellishments in
that kit.  The design is based on one by Susie Mc Guire of Creative Cafe.  Had a lot of fun putting
it all together and learned some new techniques (thank you Susie!)  There is a little mini book with six
pages for photos in the picture below.

What else is on my easel?  Am getting ready for an art show first of October.  I'll post some
photos next time.  Until then - take care........

Pam's Cottage Studio Tour

Hi - welcome all to my very first studio tour.  Grab a cup of coffee and meet my fur ball assistant - Scamper.  She must lay on every piece of fabric and paper in my studio.  Well, it's her job.   My studio is 12 x 26 and has a sink which I love having when I'm painting.     I'm  a multi-media artist so I have areas for everything.  If I don't have room here I gradually move into other parts of the house.

Eat Dessert First!!!  Areas where I store paper

Love this table!  And more storage for paper.

Gallery for Paintings

Sewing area and fabric, also Cricut setup.  Also more
fabric in bottom of hutch.
Sink area - I put a cover over it and use as
another table when I'm papercrafting.

Books!!!-  I have way too many books!
Acrylic painting 16 x 20.  A little artwork scattered here and there.
Dog portraits on ornaments I am painting for upcoming craft shows
Cat ornaments
A Cat Named Thomas (acrylic and embroidery)

What am working on?  Mini Albums for upcoming craft shows

Another view of sewing area
Computer area

This is more shelves and of course more books!  I took boxes and covered with wallpaper.  The boxes on top
are lace and ribbon   You can never have too much lace and ribbon.  Also hanging on shelves are some tags from swap with Velma (hi - Velma)
Thanks for stopping by!!!  If you just click this  it will take you back to  Desert Cottage for more awesome studios.

Coasters from Dollar Tree!

Hi all - just wanted to show you mini album I made from Dollar Tree paper coasters.
They are 4 x 4 - just the right size.  I covered it with Prima "Botanical Collection" paper and then
went crazy embellishing it.  There are more Prima paper scraps in there, buttons
and a little this and that.   I distressed the edges with ink. I found some tiny clothespins at Walmart which
I stamped and distressed with ink.   Made the organza flower on the cover with an antique button in the center.   Thanks for stopping by and looking.....

Luv Vintage!

Hi all - another card to show you.  Used an image from a Velma swap (Hi Velma!)  a doily, vintage seam binding and scrap paper I had from Lost and Found by Minds Eye and DCWV The French Country Stack.
Thanks for stopping by and looking.......

It's Summertime!

Hi all - its too hot to go outside so am working on more cards for show coming up later this year.
Always have to have a doily and used an image from DCWV - Botanical Stack.
I attached a small tag behind the image.  I wanted a clear button to attach but couldn't
find any.  I wanted to decoupage sheet music on the back of the button.
So I decided to make buttons with a one inch punch!  I punched
out of sheet music and paint chips I had from the hardware store and I glued
them all together.  Punched a couple of holes and  a little distress ink and twine and wa-la.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Time Flies

Hi all - I have been working on pencil drawings which I love to do.  All you need are pencils
paper and an eraser.  It's a medium that is easy to carry with you traveling.  And if you set it aside,
it is just waiting for you next time.  Doesn't dry out or take up a lot of room. And it's just paper!
Thanking for looking........

Just for You!

Hi all - It's extremely hot here! - perfect for indoor card making.  This was made with Recollection
and Prima papers.  The cute sweet paper was a tag from Velma from one of the swaps.  It looked
perfect with the other paper.  I used it as another place to put a tag.  The flower was made from rice paper that a friend gave me.  I punched out the petals with an one inch punch and glued to a backing.  I then spritzed it with Tsukineko Walnut  Ink "Cherry Blossom"  which gave it a delicate look.  I love making flowers and sometimes will make a batch of them while watching TV.  Added some antique lace and distressed the card around the edges.  Thanks for stopping by............

More Cards!

Hi all - have been busy making greeting cards for upcoming craft shows in the fall.   The top card is
using paper scraps and  paper from Lost & Found by My Mind's Eye, also doily, chipboard frame, antique lace, antique ribbon and a clear button that I pasted sheet music on the back.  I also distressed the ribbon on the edges.  Both victorian ladies image are from Karens Whimsey that have been lightly colored with colored pencils.

The bottom card is using paper from Recollections, Mosaic Memories, doily, brads, chipboard frame and antique ribbon.  Both cards have been distressed on the edges and on the doily.  Love the vintage look!  Hope you all have a great week and thanks for looking........

Another Mini!

Hi All- Above is a mini album using the empty TP and paper towel rolls.  These are so much fun to make!
There are tons of tutorials on You Tube.  I made this one only with white and black papers after painting the cardboard with black paint.  Painting helps the cardboard to lay flatter I think...  And you are
recycling!   Then go crazy with embellishing.  Thanks for looking .....Pam
